A little world while your agent works. Sixteen pixel-art scenes bring sheep, sailboats, a rooftop cat, and forty-eight little misadventures to bb. An amber light means it needs you. A rain cloud marks an error. Requires bb 0.45 or later, with no external service or account.
Overview
View sourceA little world above bb's prompt box while your agent works. Sixteen pixel-art scenes, a gag every few minutes, and an amber light when it needs you.
Small adventures
A sheep gets stuck on a fence. The city cat knocks a flowerpot off a rooftop. A gull steals the lighthouse keeper's sandwich.
Each of Calm's sixteen scenes has three short gags, with one appearing about every 3 to 5 minutes of work. They are silent, stop while the agent needs you, and can be switched off.
A different scene each run
The default mix takes you through all your chosen scenes before repeating. Pick a favorite for every run, give each thread its own scene, or remove scenes from the mix.
There is a pasture, a sea, a night sky with an owl, a balloon fiesta, a pond, a train, a garden, a campfire, an underwater reef, a snowy village, a mountain trail, kites, a desert roadrunner, a city rooftop, a lighthouse, and space.
The light follows your local clock. Long runs deepen toward dusk, seasons add a small touch, and rare visitors appear during work. Tap a creature for a silent reaction.
When your agent needs you
The scene plays while your agent works and reacts to completed actions. When it needs your answer, the scene holds and an amber light glows. A rain cloud marks an error. A rate limit lets the scene rest, with the return time when the provider reports it. The scene closes when the run ends.
Child threads join as helpers, small figures in their own colors. Tap one for details and a silent reaction. If the main agent rests, a small alert appears only for helpers waiting on you or reporting a failure. Tap a helper in that alert to open its thread.
Make it yours
The settings page has live scene tiles and switches for optional touches. Choose Still pictures for stationary art that continues to show the agent's state. Calm follows bb's light or dark mode and your system's reduced-motion setting, and pauses when out of sight.
A scene icon in each thread's header lets you pin a scene or turn Calm off just there.
Local to your bb
Requires bb 0.45 or later. No external service, paid account, or separate install. Calm reads thread activity and stores preferences, per-thread scene choices, run counts, and dismissed helper alerts in your own bb. It adds no telemetry.
Tested on bb 0.45. A few experimental bb APIs have fallbacks. Rate-limit return times depend on the provider, and seasons follow northern-hemisphere months.
Inspired by Kun Chen's firstmate. All the art and code are new.
