Get it for macOS

See and control the screens of your Macs from inside bb, at your desk or from anywhere through your getbb.app address. A sidebar page shows each Mac connected to your bb with whether its Screen Sharing is on, and opens its screen in the page for your keyboard and mouse. Sessions to several Macs can be open at once, with View only, Send keys for shortcuts such as Command-Tab, and Full screen. Every new session asks for that Mac's own macOS user name and password, which bb never keeps, and a Close all pill ends every session at once. Requires bb 0.45 or later and macOS, with Screen Sharing turned on by you in System Settings on each Mac; it relies on experimental bb plugin APIs that may change between bb releases.

Overview

View source

Open the screens of the Macs connected to your bb inside bb, and use them with your keyboard and mouse — the Mac running your bb server and every other Mac enrolled in it, at home or from anywhere through your getbb.app address. It is each Mac's own Screen Sharing, drawn in a bb page; nothing extra is installed on any Mac and no port is opened to the internet.

What you get

  • A Screen Sharing page in the sidebar, with a Mac picker at the left of its toolbar listing your machines, each with whether its Screen Sharing is on, off, not a Mac or offline. When it is off, the page says where in System Settings to turn it on.
  • Pick a Mac, Connect, sign in with a macOS user name and password, and its screen appears scaled to the page.
  • Sessions to several Macs at once in the same window; the page shows the one you pick.
  • View only, to watch without sending keys or clicks; switch it at any time.
  • Send keys, for ⌘Tab, ⌘Space, Mission Control and the other shortcuts your own Mac keeps; Full screen, in Chrome, Edge and bb's desktop app, to give the shared Mac the browser's shortcuts too.
  • While any session is open, on any device, the sidebar row says Live and a pill in the corner of every bb window offers Close all, which ends every session on every Mac.
  • Leave the page and come back: the session keeps running in that bb window and is still signed in.
  • Sessions end on Disconnect or Close all, when you close the window, after 30 minutes without keyboard or mouse use, and after 8 hours.

Private by design

The page talks to the bb server at the same address the bb app is using: your own Mac, or your getbb.app address, which only your signed-in bb account can open. The server reaches its own Mac directly, and every other Mac through bb's own encrypted connection to it. Each session needs a one-time ticket for the Mac you picked that lasts thirty seconds. Your macOS password goes to Screen Sharing inside its own encrypted sign-in, and bb never logs or keeps it.

What it needs

  • Screen Sharing turned on, on each Mac you want to see, in System Settings → General → Sharing. macOS does not let an app turn it on for you.
  • Other Macs enrolled in this bb, with bb's host daemon connected.
  • For use away from home, this bb signed in to its getbb.app account.

Limits

  • Macs other than the bb server's go through bb's link to them, about 0.6 s there and back to a laptop away from home: keys and clicks show on screen about half a second later, and the screen updates a few times a second.
  • A Mac with several displays shows as the one picture macOS sends; you cannot pick a display.
  • It is standard VNC, because Apple's faster mode is private to its own app: good for working on a Mac, not for watching video.

FirstMate CrewHand one agent your to-do list and it runs a crew of worker threads, each in its own git worktree, until the work lands. The first mate is a pinned thread in bb's own chat that writes each worker's instructions, supervises it, and brings back branches, pull requests, findings and only the decisions that are yours. A FirstMate tab shows the crew as a board of Queued, Working, Blocked, Parked, Done, Failed and Idle, with Steer, Interrupt, Relaunch and End on every card. A built-in watch tells the first mate within about five minutes when a pull request is merged, reviewed or changes check status. Requires bb 0.46 or later, git, and the logged-in gh CLI for the pull request watch; a capable model such as Claude Sonnet is recommended for the first mate.NewGitHub BoardSee your GitHub issues, pull requests and discussions on one board, and hand any of them to an agent thread. Four columns cover what you wrote, what is open on repositories you own and what is assigned to you, and an issue that a pull request closes folds into that pull request's card. Pull request cards show CI checks and branch status, with an Update branch button wherever you can push. A detail panel shows the body, comments and images, and labels are added or removed from a right-click menu. Send to chat opens bb's new-thread composer on a card, with a prompt you set per column and per project, in the bb project that has the repository checked out. Add to chat puts the same prompt, the card's column template with the chat's project override, at the end of a chat's draft without sending it, from a menu of the chats on screen and your recent threads. Requires bb 0.46 or later, and the GitHub CLI (gh) installed and signed in on the machine running the bb server.NewHeraldHear one spoken sentence when an agent needs you, and see every waiting thread in one list. When a thread asks a question, waits for a plan or a permission to be approved, finishes its turn or fails, the bb app says which thread it is and what it needs, on whatever page you are on. A Herald page in the sidebar lists every thread waiting on you with its reason and sentence, and the same sentence sits above that thread's composer with a Read again button until you answer. Settings choose which kinds of event are announced, the voice and speed, and where to speak: the desktop app, a browser tab, or the mobile app while it is open. By default the sentence is built from the event itself, with no model or external service; optionally, Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Gemini CLI or a command of your own, installed and logged in on the Mac running bb, writes it instead, for one short model turn per announcement. The default voice needs bb running on a Mac, and elsewhere each device's own browser voice speaks.NewScheduled JobsRun shell commands on your Mac on a cron schedule or a fixed interval, as launchd jobs that keep running while bb is closed. Each job is a LaunchAgent plist that launchd owns, so a missed fire runs once when the Mac wakes and a disabled job stays disabled across reboots. A sidebar page shows each job's launchd status, its last twenty runs with duration and exit code, and the tail of its log, which you can follow live. Run now, Enable, Disable, Edit and Delete do the launchctl work for you, and commands run through your login shell with your terminal's PATH. The sidebar row counts failing jobs, and a picker switches between the Macs connected to bb. macOS only.New
