Switchboard
See which agent threads failed, need you or are still running, grouped under your bb sections. Child threads nest under their parent across projects, and a collapsed parent still shows its most urgent child. A status-lanes view lists every awake thread under Failed, Needs you, Running, Unread or Idle. Drag threads to reorder, nest or move them between sections, and snooze a quiet family until tomorrow morning. Hover a row for the thread's model, context use, branch, uncommitted changes and pull request. Choose Switchboard under Settings → Appearance → Sidebar in each bb client.
Overview
View sourceKeep parallel agent threads readable and make triage part of the sidebar.
What you get
- Your bb sections as coloured groups, with Pinned first and unfiled Threads last. Children form a tree across projects and sections; their own state and a collapsed parent's urgent descendants remain visible at a glance.
- A title, project, section and branch filter, status chips, three densities and an in-list View options menu, with short hints on the controls. Choose Switchboard under Settings → Appearance → Sidebar in each bb client.
- An Archive toggle shows archived threads on a shelf at the end of the list, with Unarchive and older pages on demand.
- A status-lanes view groups every awake thread under its own Failed, Needs you, Running, Unread or Idle state, newest attention first. An optional Needs-you shelf repeats urgent threads at the top without duplicating bb shortcuts.
- Hover a thread for an info card: model, context use, branch, changes, pull request and, in the Briefing layout, its first prompt and latest reply.
Organize and triage
Drag threads above, below or under another thread, or onto a section header. Alt+arrow keys move a focused thread; Alt-click and Shift-click select families for bulk moves, archive and snooze. Section menus rename, colour, sort and add threads, and can set a default project that the section's + button uses for new threads. By-hand, recent-activity and status sort modes apply per section or to Threads. Sorted roots cannot be manually reordered, but you can still nest threads or move them onto a sorted section's header.
Idle unpinned families fade after your chosen number of days (three by default). A section menu can archive only its stale roots after a confirmation that counts their children, with Undo. Snooze a quiet family until 09:00 tomorrow (or your chosen local hour); the Snoozed shelf shows when it wakes and has a Wake button. New attention or an urgent or running child wakes it early.
Palette commands focus the filter (Mod+Alt+F), jump to the next failed or waiting thread (Mod+Alt+J), switch views and create a section.
Parent threads and limits
Making a thread a child tells its parent's agent; bb then sends the parent each finished child turn. Undo within two seconds sends nothing, and bb allows at most four levels. Switchboard leaves parents, sections, pins and archives in bb, while its plugin store holds order, colour, collapse, sort, default projects and snooze. Status lanes reorder by design; the list does not window rows.
