Get it for macOS

Keeps a file tree beside every thread that shows what the agent changed in git colours, one click away from the diff. Quick Open finds any file from a few letters of its name, and Search in Files previews every replacement before it is written. The tree works from the keyboard: arrows, F2 to rename, Delete to move to the Trash with Undo, and Cut, Copy and Paste for files; drag and drop moves them. Files open in BB's own editor, with Material Icon Theme icons. Git colours and diffs need a git repository; the Trash works on macOS and Linux.

Who it is for

People who read and steer what an agent changes in a workspace and want the explorer they know from VS Code or Cursor right inside BB.

What you get

A file tree pinned to the right of the BB window, beside the thread and BB's editor tabs. It stays put while you switch threads.

  • Git colours and Changes. Modified files read amber with an M, new ones green, deleted red, conflicts purple; a folder takes the colour of what changed inside it. The Changes tab lists every uncommitted file — click one for its diff against HEAD, inline or side by side. Both refresh every few seconds, so an agent's edits show up as they land.
  • Material Icon Theme. VS Code's file and folder icons, light and dark.
  • Quick Open (⌘E). Type a few letters of a name in order — fexb finds FileExplorerBody.tsx. Empty, it lists recent files; server.ts:30 opens on line 30. Git-ignored files stay out.
  • Search and replace (⇧⌘F). Case, whole word and regex, include and exclude globs. With text in Replace, every result previews the change in place; dismiss a file to leave it out; Replace All says how much will change and asks first.
  • An editor's tree. Arrow keys, F2 to rename in place, Delete to move to the Trash with Undo, ⌘C/⌘X/⌘V and Duplicate, ⌘-click and ⇧-click to select several, drag and drop to move.
  • Chat paths. A path an agent writes in chat gets a button that reveals it in the tree.

Files open in BB's own editor.

How it works

The tree, git status and search run on the machine that holds the workspace, through BB's host API. Git status is git status --porcelain, diffs are git diff HEAD, and content search is ripgrep. Deleting moves items to the macOS or freedesktop Trash; a machine without one deletes for good and says so.

First step

Install it, open a thread with a git repository, and press ⌘B to show the explorer. Ask the agent to change a file and watch it turn amber; click it in Changes to see the diff. Then press ⌘E and type a few letters of a file name.

File ManagerManage the files on the machine bb runs on without a terminal: browse, upload, move, rename, extract and hand them to the agent. Opens as a sidebar page, as a tab beside a thread that can start in that thread's folder, and from a file link in a message. Double-click shows images, PDF, video, Markdown and code; Space looks inside zip, tar, 7z and rar archives without extracting them. Multi-gigabyte uploads resume after a dropped connection. On a phone, selected rows get an Actions bar with the whole row menu. Access stays inside the home folder of the user bb runs as; tar, 7z and rar archives need tar and 7z on that machine.Foma521
FilesA VS Code-style file explorer and editor for the workspace behind a thread. Search in files finds a word across every file in the project: results are grouped by file with each hit highlighted, and clicking one opens the file on that line. It is smart case, with match-case, whole-word and regex toggles, and built for typing — file contents stay in memory between searches, so refining a query re-runs in tens of milliseconds, and a regex runs in its own worker so a runaway pattern cannot freeze BB. Around it: a file tree that shows dotfiles, editor tabs, a go-to-file palette (Cmd+P), find in the open file (Cmd+F), syntax highlighting in your BB code theme, and edit and save guarded so a change an agent made underneath you is never clobbered. Markdown files open rendered, with the source and the editor one click away. Two pickers choose the project and then its checkout or one of its worktrees; beside a thread it is pinned to that thread's worktree. Adds a `bb files` command so agents can browse and read the same workspace from the CLI, on whichever machine it lives.AbdElrahman Telb360
