Opens dBase and FoxPro .dbf tables and .dbc databases from chat links, with their memo and index files, and no FoxPro, ODBC or Windows. Agents in the thread can list the tables and run read-only queries on them, so their answers come from the files. A .dbc brings every table it names, with long names, primary keys and relations drawn as an ER diagram. The files are read in the panel and never uploaded. Exporting the diagram, or more than 10,000 rows of a result, needs DBConvert PRO ($9 a month).

Overview

What you get

The whole set from one file: a .dbf brings its memo (.fpt or .dbt) and index (.cdx); a .dbc brings its .dct, .dcx and every table it names, each with its own memo and index.
Tables from dBase III and IV, FoxPro 2 and Visual FoxPro, with every column's FoxPro type.
From a .dbc: long table and column names, primary keys, and relations drawn on the Diagram tab.
Index tags from the .cdx, with their expressions.
SQL tab for read-only SELECT and WITH queries in DuckDB's SQL.

Deleted rows are hidden, as FoxPro hides them. A missing memo file does not stop the table: its memo columns load empty and are named.

Agents

In a Claude Code or Codex thread, the agent gets three tools: dbf_list_tables, dbf_describe_table and dbf_run_select. They work on the file open in the viewer, read-only, and return at most 100 rows a query.

Ask AI puts a question about the open file into the thread's message box, for you to send.

Where the file goes

Nowhere. bb streams the file from the machine that holds it into the panel, where the viewer reads it and DuckDB, compiled to WebAssembly, runs the SQL.

The plugin calls one outside service. With a DBConvert API key set, it asks the DBConvert licensing service which PRO features the account has.

Free and PRO

Viewing, SQL and exporting up to 10,000 rows as CSV, JSON or Parquet are free. DBConvert PRO ($9 a month) adds diagram export to PNG and SVG, and exporting a whole result.

To unlock PRO, enter the API key from https://streams.dbconvert.com/account in the plugin's settings.

File ManagerManage the files on the machine bb runs on without a terminal: browse, upload, move, rename, extract and hand them to the agent. Opens as a sidebar page, as a tab beside a thread that can start in that thread's folder, and from a file link in a message. Double-click shows images, PDF, video, Markdown and code; Space looks inside zip, tar, 7z and rar archives without extracting them. Multi-gigabyte uploads resume after a dropped connection, and several files or a whole folder download as one zip. On a phone, selected rows get an Actions bar with the whole row menu. Access stays inside the home folder of the user bb runs as; tar, 7z and rar archives need tar and 7z on that machine.

FilesA VS Code-style file explorer and editor for the workspace behind a thread. Search in files finds a word across every file in the project: results are grouped by file with each hit highlighted, and clicking one opens the file on that line. It is smart case, with match-case, whole-word and regex toggles, and built for typing — file contents stay in memory between searches, so refining a query re-runs in tens of milliseconds, and a regex runs in its own worker so a runaway pattern cannot freeze BB. Around it: a file tree that shows dotfiles, editor tabs, a go-to-file palette (Cmd+P), find in the open file (Cmd+F), syntax highlighting in your BB code theme, and edit and save guarded so a change an agent made underneath you is never clobbered.
