Opens Microsoft Access .mdb and .accdb files from chat links as tables, with no Access, Java, ODBC or Windows. Agents in the thread can list the tables of the open database and run read-only queries on it, so their answers come from the file. Shows each column with its Access type, saved queries with their SQL, and the relationships as an ER diagram. Files from Access 97 to Microsoft 365 are read in the panel and never uploaded. Exporting the diagram, or more than 10,000 rows of a result, needs DBConvert PRO ($9 a month).

Overview

What you get

Tables with row counts, and every column with its Access type: Short Text, Number, Currency, Date/Time, Yes/No, AutoNumber, OLE Object, Attachment and the rest.
Exact values: Currency and Decimal as exact decimals, multi-value fields as lists.
ER diagram of the relationships defined in Access.
Saved queries with their SQL, shown rather than run.
SQL tab for read-only SELECT and WITH queries in DuckDB's SQL.

Files from Access 97 to Access 2024 and Microsoft 365 open. A database encrypted with a password asks for it in the tab and does not store it. Forms, reports, macros and VBA modules are not shown.

Agents

In a Claude Code or Codex thread, the agent gets three tools: mdb_list_tables, mdb_describe_table and mdb_run_select. They work on the file open in the viewer, read-only, and return at most 100 rows a query.

Ask AI puts a question about the open file into the thread's message box, for you to send.

Where the file goes

Nowhere. bb streams the file from the machine that holds it into the panel, where the viewer reads it and DuckDB, compiled to WebAssembly, runs the SQL.

The plugin calls one outside service. With a DBConvert API key set, it asks the DBConvert licensing service which PRO features the account has.

Free and PRO

Viewing, SQL and exporting up to 10,000 rows as CSV, JSON or Parquet are free. DBConvert PRO ($9 a month) adds diagram export to PNG and SVG, and exporting a whole result.

To unlock PRO, enter the API key from https://streams.dbconvert.com/account in the plugin's settings.

File ManagerManage the files on the machine bb runs on without a terminal: browse, upload, move, rename, extract and hand them to the agent. Opens as a sidebar page, as a tab beside a thread that can start in that thread's folder, and from a file link in a message. Double-click shows images, PDF, video, Markdown and code; Space looks inside zip, tar, 7z and rar archives without extracting them. Multi-gigabyte uploads resume after a dropped connection, and several files or a whole folder download as one zip. On a phone, selected rows get an Actions bar with the whole row menu. FilesA VS Code-style file explorer and editor for the workspace behind a thread. Search in files finds a word across every file in the project: results are grouped by file with each hit highlighted, and clicking one opens the file on that line. It is smart case, with match-case, whole-word and regex toggles, and built for typing — file contents stay in memory between searches, so refining a query re-runs in tens of milliseconds, and a regex runs in its own worker so a runaway pattern cannot freeze BB.
