JSONL Viewer — DBConvert

Get it for macOS

Opens .jsonl and .ndjson files from chat links as tables, so you can check what an agent wrote without leaving the thread. Agents in the thread can list the columns of the open file and run read-only queries on it, so their answers come from the file. Infers each column's type across every line, and lists the lines that fail to parse by number with the parser's message. DuckDB runs as WebAssembly in the panel, and the file is never uploaded. Exporting more than 10,000 rows of a result needs DBConvert PRO ($9 a month).

What you get

  • Types inferred across every line, so each column has a name and a type before you write a query.
  • Broken lines named: the file still opens, and each line that fails to parse is listed by number with the parser's message and its text.
  • Data grid, paged to the last row, with nested objects shown as structs.
  • SQL tab for read-only SELECT and WITH queries in DuckDB's SQL.
  • Several files at once: add more .jsonl files with Choose files, and each becomes a named view you can join.

If another plugin opens these files instead, choose this viewer under Settings → File openers in bb.

Agents

In a Claude Code or Codex thread, the agent gets three tools: jsonl_list_tables, jsonl_describe_table and jsonl_run_select. They work on the file open in the viewer, read-only, and return at most 100 rows a query.

Ask AI puts a question about the open file into the thread's message box, for you to send.

Where the file goes

Nowhere. bb streams the file from the machine that holds it into the panel, where DuckDB compiled to WebAssembly reads it.

The plugin calls one outside service. With a DBConvert API key set, it asks the DBConvert licensing service which PRO features the account has.

Free and PRO

Viewing, SQL and exporting up to 10,000 rows as CSV, JSON or Parquet are free. DBConvert PRO ($9 a month) adds exporting a whole result.

To unlock PRO, enter the API key from https://streams.dbconvert.com/account in the plugin's settings.

More from DBConvert

DBF Viewer — DBConvertOpens dBase and FoxPro .dbf tables and .dbc databases from chat links, with their memo and index files, and no FoxPro, ODBC or Windows. Agents in the thread can list the tables and run read-only queries on them, so their answers come from the files. A .dbc brings every table it names, with long names, primary keys and relations drawn as an ER diagram. The files are read in the panel and never uploaded. Exporting the diagram, or more than 10,000 rows of a result, needs DBConvert PRO ($9 a month).NewMDB and ACCDB Viewer — DBConvertOpens Microsoft Access .mdb and .accdb files from chat links as tables, with no Access, Java, ODBC or Windows. Agents in the thread can list the tables of the open database and run read-only queries on it, so their answers come from the file. Shows each column with its Access type, saved queries with their SQL, and the relationships as an ER diagram. Files from Access 97 to Microsoft 365 are read in the panel and never uploaded. Exporting the diagram, or more than 10,000 rows of a result, needs DBConvert PRO ($9 a month).NewParquet Viewer — DBConvertOpens .parquet files from chat links as tables, so you can check what an agent wrote without leaving the thread. Agents in the thread can list the columns of the open file and run read-only queries on it, so their answers come from the file. Shows the schema, row groups, codec and per-column statistics from the file's footer, and joins several Parquet files in one query. DuckDB runs as WebAssembly in the panel, and the file is never uploaded. Exporting more than 10,000 rows of a result needs DBConvert PRO ($9 a month).NewPostgreSQL Dump Viewer — DBConvertOpens a pg_dump file from a chat link as a database you can browse and query, with no server, Docker or psql. Agents in the thread can list its tables and run read-only PostgreSQL queries on it, so their answers come from the dump. Replays plain and tar dumps, gzip, zstd or lz4 compressed, into a PostgreSQL that runs as WebAssembly in the panel, and draws an ER diagram from the foreign keys. The dump is never uploaded. Exporting the diagram, or more than 10,000 rows of a result, needs DBConvert PRO ($9 a month).New

File ManagerManage the files on the machine bb runs on without a terminal: browse, upload, move, rename, extract and hand them to the agent. Opens as a sidebar page, as a tab beside a thread that can start in that thread's folder, and from a file link in a message. Double-click shows images, PDF, video, Markdown and code; Space looks inside zip, tar, 7z and rar archives without extracting them. Multi-gigabyte uploads resume after a dropped connection, and several files or a whole folder download as one zip. On a phone, selected rows get an Actions bar with the whole row menu. Access stays inside the home folder of the user bb runs as; tar, 7z and rar archives need tar and 7z on that machine.Foma562
FilesA VS Code-style file explorer and editor for the workspace behind a thread. Search in files finds a word across every file in the project: results are grouped by file with each hit highlighted, and clicking one opens the file on that line. It is smart case, with match-case, whole-word and regex toggles, and built for typing — file contents stay in memory between searches, so refining a query re-runs in tens of milliseconds, and a regex runs in its own worker so a runaway pattern cannot freeze BB. Around it: a file tree that shows dotfiles, editor tabs, a go-to-file palette (Cmd+P), find in the open file (Cmd+F), syntax highlighting in your BB code theme, and edit and save guarded so a change an agent made underneath you is never clobbered. Markdown files open rendered, with the source and the editor one click away. Two pickers choose the project and then its checkout or one of its worktrees; beside a thread it is pinned to that thread's worktree. Adds a `bb files` command so agents can browse and read the same workspace from the CLI, on whichever machine it lives.AbdElrahman Telb413
