Get it for macOS

Edit Markdown right in the side panel, with formatting rendered as you type and saves that change only the characters you typed. Tables stay tables while you edit: click a cell to change its raw Markdown in place, Tab to the next cell, and Tab past the last one to add a row. Every save checks the file's hash first, so a file an agent changed while you typed asks you to keep your version or load the disk version instead of being overwritten. It becomes the opener for .md, .mdx and .markdown files on install unless you already chose one under Settings, and needs bb 0.43 or later with no account or external service.

What you get

  • Headings, bold, italics, inline code, links, quotes, lists, and task checkboxes render as you type. The line under the cursor shows its Markdown, dimmed, so you can see what you are editing.
  • Tables stay tables. Click a cell and that cell alone shows its raw Markdown in place; the rest of the table stays rendered. A table falls back to raw text only when it no longer parses as a table.
  • Opening a file never rewrites it, and saving changes only the characters you typed. Agent-written tables, bare email addresses, and spacing stay exactly as they were.
  • Ctrl/Cmd+click opens a link. Source in the header shows all the Markdown at once.

Tables

  • Tab and Shift+Tab move between cells. Tab past the last cell adds a row.
  • Enter moves down a row, Shift+Enter inserts <br>, and Escape leaves the cell.
  • A | you type or paste is saved as \|, so a cell edit cannot split its row.

Saving

Changes save about one second after you stop typing, and Ctrl/Cmd+S saves at once. Every save checks the file's hash first. If an agent changes the file while you have no unsaved edits, its change appears in place. If you do have unsaved edits, a banner asks whether to keep yours or load the disk version, and nothing is overwritten until you choose.

Default opener

On install, Live Markdown becomes the opener for .md, .mdx, and .markdown files in each browser, the first time bb loads there, for any of those types you have not already assigned. It never replaces a choice you made. Change it any time under Settings → File openers, or right-click a file link and pick Open with.

Requirements

bb 0.43 or later. No account or external service. Files over 4 MB, or not UTF-8, open in bb's own preview.

File ManagerManage the files on the machine bb runs on without a terminal: browse, upload, move, rename, extract and hand them to the agent. Opens as a sidebar page, as a tab beside a thread that can start in that thread's folder, and from a file link in a message. Double-click shows images, PDF, video, Markdown and code; Space looks inside zip, tar, 7z and rar archives without extracting them. Multi-gigabyte uploads resume after a dropped connection. On a phone, selected rows get an Actions bar with the whole row menu. Access stays inside the home folder of the user bb runs as; tar, 7z and rar archives need tar and 7z on that machine.Foma375
FilesA VS Code-style file explorer and editor for the workspace behind a thread. Search in files finds a word across every file in the project: results are grouped by file with each hit highlighted, and clicking one opens the file on that line. It is smart case, with match-case, whole-word and regex toggles, and built for typing — file contents stay in memory between searches, so refining a query re-runs in tens of milliseconds, and a regex runs in its own worker so a runaway pattern cannot freeze BB. Around it: a file tree that shows dotfiles, editor tabs, a go-to-file palette (Cmd+P), find in the open file (Cmd+F), syntax highlighting in your BB code theme, and edit and save guarded so a change an agent made underneath you is never clobbered. Markdown files open rendered, with the source and the editor one click away. Two pickers choose the project and then its checkout or one of its worktrees; beside a thread it is pinned to that thread's worktree. Adds a `bb files` command so agents can browse and read the same workspace from the CLI, on whichever machine it lives.AbdElrahman Telb256
